Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Marry | Playbill

News Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Marry Neil Patrick Harris, most recently seen on Broadway in a Tony-winning turn in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and his partner David Burtka (Tulsa in the Bernadette Peters revival of Gypsy), were married Sept. 6 in Italy, according to EOnline.

The ceremony, which featured a performance by multiple Grammy winner Elton John, was officiated by "How I Met Your Mother" producer and director Pam Fryman.

In a statement a representative for Harris said, "We happily confirm that Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were married in Italy in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family."

Harris also announced the news via Twitter: "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband'."

Neil Patrick Harris has also been seen on Broadway in Assassins, Cabaret and Proof. He appeared in the Geffen Playhouse's production of All My Sons as well as the L.A. company of Rent, the Reprise! production of Sweeney Todd and the London mounting of tick, tick . . . BOOM! His screen credits include the current "How I Met Your Mother" as well as "Undercover Brother," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Stark Raving Mad" and "Joan of Arc."

Burtka, who is also a chef and entertainment reporter, was seen Off-Broadway in The Play About the Baby.
