Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami will present the work at its mainstage Nov. 24-Dec, 10, followed by a weeklong run at Fort Lauderdale's Parker Playhouse Dec. 13-17. Coconut Grove producing artistic director Arnold Mittelman made the announcement.

Waiting for Poppa will be directed by Richard Benjamin, known for his work as an actor and director for both stage and film.

Coconut Grove bills Waiting for Poppa as "vintage Simon," with the playwright "once again harking back to the family well to present another important work based on his nostalgic memories as a young boy growing up in a middle-class Jewish family."

Brighton Beach Memoirs, Broadway Bound and Lost in Yonkers were all inspired by people in his Simon's family. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Lost in Yonkers.

Waiting for Poppa is on a 2006-07 Coconut Grove season that includes (as previously reported) Souvenir, Wrong Turn at Lungfish, The Fourposter, Burning Desire, Talley's Folly, The Duchess of Chutzpah and Enchanted April.
