News New Bat Boy Recording Due Oct. 23; Stars Sign CDs in London The new London cast recording of Bat Boy, the Laurence O'Keefe musical about a half human, half-bat in Hope Falls, will be released in the U.K. Oct. 23.

That same day, Bat Boy fans will have the chance to meet cast members from the production currently running at the West End's Shatfesbury Theatre. Deven May, who also created the role Off-Broadway and in Los Angeles, will join co-stars John Barr, Rebecca Vere and Emma Williams for a CD signing at London's show-biz shop Dress Circle. The signing is set for 12:30 PM. After a successful New York debut, the Off-Broadway musical opened Sept. 8. Three songs featured in the New York premiere have been replaced in the new production. “Ugly Boy” has been superseded by “Hey Freak,” “Ugly Freak Two” by “What You Wanna Do” and “Inside Your Heart” by “Mine All Mine.” Composer Laurence O'Keefe was involved in the new production, which features direction by Mark Wing-Davey and musical direction by Iain Vince-Gatt. A 2001 Outer Critics Circle winner for Best Musical, Bat Boy features music and lyrics by O'Keefe and a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming.
