LONDON -- Yazmina Reza's smash hit Art welcomed a new cast Jan. 20 when Roger Allam, Mick Ford, and Jack Dee stepped in. Winner of the Evening Standard Award and Laurence Olivier for Best Comedy, Art is about Serge, an art lover who buys a plain white painting from a fashionable artist for a very large sum of money. His old friend Marc thinks he has been taken advantage of and disagrees with his purchase. Marc then confides his anger at Serge's action to his other friend Ivan, and all three friendships are soon on the line. The previous cast -- Malcolm Storry, Nigel Havers and Ron Cook -- took their final bows Jan. 18. Art runs one hour and 20 minutes and is currently playing at Wyndhams Theatre.
The Broadway production is scheduled to open March 1 at the Royale Theatre with Alan Alda, Victor Garber and Alfred Molina.
