The world premiere of The Connector, a new musical featuring a book by Jonathan Marc Sherman and a score by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown, officially opens February 6 after beginning previews January 12 at the Off-Broadway company. MCC Theater produces the new work in their Newman Mills Theater space. 

The production revealed a second extension ahead of the opening night performance, with the run now continuing through March 17.

Conceived and directed by Brown's longtime collaborator Daisy PrinceThe Connector follows two young journalists (Ben Levi Ross and Hannah Cruz) in the late 1990s, pitting ambition against values in the race for the ultimate scoop.

Scott Bakula returns to the New York stage for the production, following years in Hollywood. Known for his television work on Quantum Leap and Star Trek: Enterprise, the Golden Globe winner began his career in theatre. He was Tony-nominated for the 1998 musical Romance/Romance and starred as Nathan Detroit in the 2009 Hollywood Bowl production of Guys and Dolls.

The cast also includes Joanna Carpenter, Max Crumm, George Dvorsky, Ashley Pérez Flanagan, Danielle Lee Greaves, Mylinda Hull, Daniel Jenkins, Cedric Lamar, Jessica Molaskey, Fergie Philippe, Eliseo Román, Ann Sanders, Kyle Sherman, and Michael Winther.

The Connector features choreography by Karla Puno Garcia, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Márion Tálan de la Rosa, lighting design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound design by Jon Weston, and orchestrations and arrangements by Brown. Tom Murray is the music director and Kristy Norter is the music coordinator. Erin Gioia Albrecht is the production stage manager and casting is by Patrick Goodwin of The Telsey Office.
