News New Mondays Series to Feature Works by MacDermot, Blumenkrantz, Birkenhead, Bucchino The third round of New Mondays — presenting the works of accomplished and up-n-coming composers — has been announced.

Those taking part in the Storefront series include City of Angels lyricist David Zippel, Urban Cowboy’s Jeff Blumenkrantz, Best Little Whorehouse’s Carol Hall as well as Susan Birkenhead, Jay Leonhart and many other top theatre writers.

Past participants in the series include Jason Robert Brown, John Bucchino, William Finn, David Friedman, Julie Gold, Henry Krieger, Michael John LaChiusa, Andrew Lippa, Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Tom Jones, John Wallowitch and Frank Wildhorn. The series begins Monday, March 10 and runs through April 21 at New York’s Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Show time is 7 PM.

Each evening at the Duplex will feature three songwriters, who will offer three or four of their newest compositions. Some of the writers will perform their own works, while others will invite special guest vocalists to interpret their material. The complete line-up for New Mondays follows:

March 10: Mary Liz MacNamara, Jay Leonhart, Margaret Dorn
March 17: Renee and Rob Preuss, David Zippel, Kathy King Wouk
March 24: Stephen Cole, Galt MacDermot, Sam Davis
March 31: Jeff Blumenkrantz, Carol Hall, Peter Mills
April 7: Judy Barnett, Susan Birkenhead, Todd Almond
April 21: Michael Holland, John Bucchino, Karen Mack
