News New Musical Fat Camp Aiming for Off-Broadway Debut in April 2012 The new musical Fat Camp will begin rehearsals toward an Off-Broadway debut in late February 2012, according to an Equity casting notice.

Directed by Casey Hushion, the production is expected to begin previews on or about April 3, 2012. Producers are Michael Minarik, Carl Levin and Dodger Properties.

Fat Camp, most recently seen in a developmental production at Cleveland's PlayhouseSquare, features a book by Randy Blair and Timothy Michael Drucker, lyrics by Blair and music by Matthew roi Berger. Jason DeBord is the musical director.

"All roles are currently available," according to the casting notice. "The producers anticipate making offers to actors who have appeared in previous incarnations of the show – but would like to stress that they are ACTIVELY looking for actors for all roles – for both this production and for future replacements, etc." The July Cleveland production featured Carly Jibson, Michael Buchanan, Janet Dickinson and Kate Loprest, among others.

According to PlayhouseSquare, "Fat Camp tells the tale of a summer spent at Camp Overton. Where secrets, sex, s'mores, and self image collide in a coming of age rock musical like no other!"

Fat Camp was also previously seen as part of the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival. No official announcement about the Off-Broadway production has been made.
