News New Musical It Shoulda Been You Begins Village Theatre Run March 14 It Shoulda Been You, the new musical about the perfect wedding that quickly unravels, begins performances March 14 at Washington's Village Theatre.

The musical, which has book and lyrics by Brian Hargrove and music by Barbara Anselmi, was first presented as a reading at the Village Originals 10th Annual Festival of New Musicals in 2010. It was then produced by New Jersey's George Street Playhouse in fall 2011 featuring direction by Tony winner David Hyde Pierce and boasting Tony winner Tyne Daly among the cast.

Jon Kretzu stages the Village Theatre production that officially opens March 15 and runs through April 22 in Issaquah, WA. It will then play Everett, WA, April 27-May 20.

The cast includes Kat Ramsburg, Leslie Law, Mara Solar, John Dewar, Josh Carter, Timothy Wilson, Jayne Muirhead, John Patrick Lowrie, Dennis Bateman, Aaron C. Finley, Diana Huey, John David Scott and Angie Louise.

According to the creators: "The bride is Jewish. The groom is Catholic. Her mother is a force of nature, his mother is a tempest in a cocktail shaker. And when the bride’s ex-boyfriend crashes the party, the perfect wedding starts to unravel faster than you can whistle “Here Comes the Bride!” Plots are hatched, pacts are made, secrets are exposed – and the sister of the bride is left to turn a tangled mess into happily ever after."

It Shoulda Been You has musical direction by Tim Symons, scenic design by Carey Wong, lighting design by Don Crossley, costume design by Melanie Burgess and sound design by Brent Warwick.
