News New Musical Storyville Will Play York Theatre Company The York Theatre Company will present the New York premiere of Storyville, which is described as "a jazzy musical of old New Orleans," July 15-Aug. 17 with an official opening July 23.

The musical has a book by Ed Bullins and music and lyrics by Mildred Kayden. Bill Castellino will direct with music direction by William Foster McDaniel.

Complete casting and creative team will be announced shortly.

"It's 1917 in the middle of Mardi Gras," according to the York. "Just two blocks from the French Quarter is Storyville, with its saloons, gambling joints and brothels. The unique sound of American jazz is being created and this is the place to hear it. Storyville is the tale of what happened in that red light district, allowing jazz to become one of America’s gifts to the world."

Tickets are priced at $67.50 and are available to all York 54th Street Club Members by calling (212) 935-5820, or in person at the box office at the York Theatre at Saint Peter’s (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). Tickets go on sale to the general public May 22.
