News New Play Explores Life of "Manson Family Member" Susan Atkins The White Horse Theater Company will present the world premiere of You Are Perfect, a new play about the life of convicted murderer and "Manson family member" Susan Atkins. The show is set in her prison cell during a key moment in the Manson murder trial.

Written and directed by Cyndy A. Marion, the production will run Feb. 5-20 at The WorkShop Theater Company in Manhattan.

Manson and his followers, including Atkins, committed a series of murders throughout California in 1969. "You Are Perfect is a theatrical re-imagining of the life of Susan Atkins," state press notes. "Moving through time and space, questioning allegations of murder and deceit. Susan Atkins is having doubts about testifying against Charles Manson. Knowing full well that Susan’s change of heart may send her to death row, a well-intentioned social worker (The Woman) visits Susan in jail. Attempting to understand Susan’s fears and motivations, The Woman urges Susan not to retract her grand jury testimony and to take the stand against Manson. In an ensuing battle of wills, questions of truth and innocence abound shattering expectations and challenging our capacity for forgiveness."

The cast features Nancy Wolfe ("Helter Skelter"), Carlotta Brentan and Brad Burgess.

The creative team includes Brian Dudkiewicz (set designer), Debra Leigh Siegel (lighting designer), Derek Nye Lockwood (costume designer), Andy Evan Cohen (sound design), Kathryn E. Cashin (choreography), Lucy Gram (assistant director), Vanessa R. Bombardieri (dramaturg), Michael G. Chin (fight choreography), Julie Foh (dialect coach), Joe Gianono (incidental music), Craig M.
