News New, Randle, McKern Set for Nichols' Lingua Franca in London Casting has been announced for Peter Nichols' Lingua Franca, which will play the Finborough Theatre in London next month.

The comedy will run July 13-Aug. 7 with an official opening set for July 16. Michael Gieleta will direct a cast including Chris New, Charlotte Randle, Abigail McKern, Ian Gelder, Enzo Cilenti, Rula Lenska and Natalie Walter.

James McNamara will design sets and lighting with Emily Stuart designing costumes.

According to Finborough press notes, "Lingua Franca follows innocent abroad, Steven Flowers, as he travels from National Service in South-East Asia to 1950's Florence. He soon finds himself working for a chaotically-run language school, together with a cosmopolitan muddle of seven foreign misfits killing their post-war nihilism in the cafés of Florence, the cradle of Renaissance high culture." The play is based on Nichols' real-life experiences and was first staged at RADA in 2009.

Nichols is perhaps best known in America for the black comedy A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, about a family caring for a disabled child. His other works include Privates on Parade, Passion Play, Forget Me Not Lane and The National Health.

Finborough Theatre is located at 118 Finborough Road in London. For tickets call 0844 847 1652 or visit www.finboroughtheatre.co.uk.
