Classic Arts Features New York City Opera's Looking Forward Ends Tour at Avery Fisher Hall April 11 The New York City Opera will complete its 5-borough tour Looking Forward April 11 at Alice Tully Hall. Having kicked off Oct. 4, 2008, in Staten Island, this marks the program's only Manhattan performance.


Developed by New York City Opera's Music Director George Manahan, Looking Forward surveys the musical language of the twentieth century.

Conducted by New York City Opera Music Director George Manahan, the concert will feature soprano Jennifer Zetlan, mezzo soprano Theodora Hanslowe, tenor Robert Breault, bass-baritone Daniel Mobbs, pianist Aleck Karis, harpist Jessica Zhou and Jean Laurendeau on the ondes Martenot. They are joined by the New York City Opera Orchestra and Women of the New York City Opera Chorus.

Highlights of Looking Forward include Olivier Messiaen's Trois petites liturgies de la Pr_sence Divine with Karis and Laurendeau and the Women of the New York City Opera Chorus; Lukas Foss's Time Cycle sung by Zetlan; and Claude Debussy's Danse sacr_e et danse profane featuring Zhou. The program, performed by the New York City Opera Orchestra, will also include Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella (Ballet).
