Classic Arts News New York Festival of Song Opens 2005-06 Season at Merkin Hall New York Festival of Song opens its season tonight at Merkin Hall with a program titled "Since the Seventies: A Generation of Song," featuring music by composers including William Bolcom, John Musto, Adam Guettel, and John Corigliano.
The season also includes a program of French songs from the turn of the 20th century with music by Satie, Chabrier and Ravel; a reprise of last season's "Fats and Fields," with music by Dorothy Fields and Fats Waller; "Godmothers of Song," featuring music commissioned by women; and a program of zarzuela with soprano Dina Kuznetsova.

NYFOS was founded in 1988 by pianists Steven Blier and Michael Barrett. Both appear throughout the season.
