Classic Arts News New York Philharmonic Announces Free Memorial Day Concert The New York Philharmonic has announced the details of its free Memorial Day concert, presented annually for the last 15 years at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
For the second straight year, the concert will be conducted by associate conductor Xian Zhang. The program includes the overture to Verdi's La forza del destino and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. on May 29; seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is located at Amsterdam Avenue and 112th Street.
