Classic Arts News New York Philharmonic to Give First-Ever Free Dress Rehearsal The New York Philharmonic will give for the first time a free dress rehearsal on the morning of its opening night concert in Avery Fisher Hall next month.
The rehearsal for the all-Dvoršk concert will feature the Carnival Overture, Symphony No. 7 and the Cello Concerto with soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

The event is being billed as a gift to New York from the New York Philharmonic and Credit Suisse, the orchestra's first-ever global sponsor.

Free general admission tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in front of the hall starting at 8:00 a.m. on September 18, the date of the gala. The New York Philharmonic Principal Brass will also perform on the plaza for those in line that morning.
