News New York Pops to Honor Tony Winner Marc Shaiman at 2014 Carnegie Hall Gala The New York Pops will honor Tony Award-winning Hairspray songwriter Marc Shaiman during its 31st birthday gala April 28, 2014, at Carnegie Hall.

The Pops, under the baton of music director Steven Reineke, will offer an evening of Shaiman's work beginning at 7 PM. Performers will be announced at a later date.

The evening will also honor real estate leader Paul J. Massey Jr. An 8:30 PM black-tie dinner at the Mandarin Oriental will follow the concert.

Shaiman, along with his Tony-winning collaborator Scott Wittman, has penned the musicals Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as the recent NBC musical series "Smash." His compositions for film include "Sleepless in Seattle," "The First Wives Club," "Patch Adams," "The American President" and "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut."
