Producers Charlotte Cohn, Brierpatch Productions, Neil Gooding Productions, and SCS Innovations LLC, in association with NewYorkRep and The Telling Company, have announced the complete cast for the upcoming New York premiere of Church & State. Jason Odell Williams’ new political comedy arrives in New York following a critically acclaimed engagement in Los Angeles.

Joining the previously announced Rob Nagle (Mad Men), the cast will include Nadia Bowers (Orange is the New Black), Christa Scott-Reed (The Pitman Painters, Relativity), and Jonathan Louis Dent (The Broken Record, Romeo and Juliet).

The Off-Broadway debut of Church & State will be directed by Markus Potter, with performances set to begin March 3 ahead of a March 20 opening. The open-ended engagement will be at New World Stages, located at 340 West 50th Street, New York.

Church & State is billed as “a fast-paced, seriously funny” look at faith, politics, and “The Twitter.” “It’s three days before Charles Whitmore’s Senate reelection and he’s decided to finally tell the public exactly what’s on his mind, no filter,“ read production notes. “What could possibly go wrong?“

The show was produced as a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere at JCC CenterStage in Rochester and The Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles. The L.A. staging received positive reviews from critics and was nominated for three Ovation Awards, including Best Playwriting for an Original Play, Best Production (Intimate Theatre), and Best Lead Actor in a Play.

The creative team for the New York premiere will be made up of David Goldstein (scenic design), Burke Brown (lighting design), Dianne K. Graebner (costume design), and Erik T. Lawson (sound design). Sofia Montgomery is production stage manager. Casting is by Wojcik | Seay Casting, and Brierpatch Productions provides general management.

Tickets are available for purchase through Telecharge.com or (212) 239-6200.
