News New York Premiere of Hope in Chaos Will Feature Jessica Walker, Eric Rubb, Heather McCuen Hope in Chaos, a new play written by 9/11 relief worker Heather McCuen, will premiere in New York City as part of the Tenth Anniversary Memorial Commemorations of 9/11, beginning Sept. 7 at the Richmond Shepard Theatre.

Presented by Impulse Theatre, the limited New York engagement will run through Sept. 10.

In Hope in Chaos, Holly-Anne Ruggiero (assistant director Jersey Boys) directs a cast that includes Jessica Walker (Movin’ Out), Séan Loftus (Celtic Women international tour), Eric Rubb (Blue Man Group), Heather McCuen, Thomas Christensen, Rachel Claire and Timothy Mele.

The play, according to press notes, "is the extraordinary true story of one average New Yorker, who found herself amongst the chaos of Ground Zero in the days immediately following September 11th. She would remain there for four months working amongst the rubble with an unlikely team of civilian relief workers."

Based on writer McCuen’s experience as a member of a New York State Senate-sponsored Disaster Task Force deep inside the chaos of Ground Zero, Hope in Chaos recounts her team’s experiences bearing witness to the tragedy, and their efforts to make sense of what has happened to their city. Hope in Chaos was last seen at the Mainline Theatre Montreal in 2010.

The company will offer talkbacks after each performance. Hope in Chaos will also hold a fundraiser and outreach program Aug. 27, hosted at the Hour Glass Tavern from 8 PM-11 PM. The Richmond Shepard Theatre is located at 309 E. 26th Street. For more information about tickets, visit www.hopeinchaos.com.
