Classic Arts News Newly Discovered Mendelssohn Opera to Get Premiere in Germany A recently discovered opera written by Felix Mendelssohn when he was 14 years old will premiere in Essen, Germany, next month, Deutsche-Presse Agentur reports.
Mendelssohn staged The Uncle from Boston in 1823 for his parents and friends, but it has never been performed publicly. The work will get a concert performance in the Essen Neue Philharmonie on October 3.
