NEWSical The Musical, the 14th longest running Off-Broadway show in history, plays its 2500th performance May 23. In celebration of the milestone, representatives from Mayor de Blasio’s office will present producer Tom D’Angora with a proclamation declaring the day as “NEWSical The Musical Day” in New York City.

NEWSical The Musical began previews December 13, 2010 and officially opened January 9, 2011 at Theatre Row's Kirk Theatre. The ever-evolving musical revue draws on the day’s news for inspiration—from politics to pop culture and everything in between.

The current company features Taylor Crousore (Forbidden Broadway), Kristen Mengelkoch (Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder), Susan Mosher (Hairspray) and Michael West (Forbidden Broadway), who has been with the show since opening night. Sally Schwab (The Marvelous Wonderettes) and Scott Richard Foster (Forbidden Broadway) are the understudies.

The show is directed by Mark Waldrop and produced by D’Angora. Rounding out the creative team are Ed Goldschneider (music director), Jason Courson (set designer) and Ryan Obermeier (stage manager).

Theatre Row is located at 410 West 42nd Street. Tickets can be purchased through Telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200 or (800) 432-7250. For more information, visit NewsicaltheMusical.com.
