Fathom Events first partnered with Disney Theatrical Productions to bring the show to the screen in February last year before the title hit streaming services, including Netflix.
The filmed performance was captured when the national tour played Los Angeles' Pantages Theatre. Members of the original Broadway company returned to the show to reprise their performances: Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan as rebellious paperboy Jack Kelly, Kara Lindsay as Katherine, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, and Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie. The four were joined by Steve Blanchard as Joseph Pulitzer and Aisha de Haas as Medda Larkin.
