Terry Kinney (Beautiful Child) directs the Lab Production Series presentation which workshops through Dec. 22 at the downtown Manhattan company's home.
Although Lab Productions are usually available only to Vineyard Theatre members, beginning Dec. 9 a limited number of $25 seats will be released for sale to the general public two hours prior to each performance. Phone sales will not be accepted for the rush seating. If a performance is sold out, a waiting list for the $25 seats will begin two hours prior to curtain time.
In the dark comedy, actress Clark plays "an ambitious actress married to a desperate playwright" (played by playwright Silver himself), while Jackson plays "an aspiring young actor whose arrival mixes things up even more."
Clark and Jackson are among a cast that also features Michael Esper, Harry van Gorkum and Marilyn Torres.
The creative team includes Andromache Chalfant (scenic), Mattie Ullrich (costume), Jeff Croiter (lighting) and Obadiah Eaves (sound and original music). The production stage manager is Christine Lemme. Clark earned her 2005 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her turn as the matriarch Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza. The actress, known for her work on Broadway in Titanic and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, has also appeared in Urinetown, Cabaret, A Grand Night for Singing and Guys and Dolls.
Jackson, who starred on Broadway in the Elvis Presley-inspired musical All Shook Up, was recently seen in the film "United 93." He has also appeared on Broadway in Aida and Thoroughly Modern Millie and in the premiere cast of Altar Boyz. Other credits include West Side Story, The Most Happy Fella, Children of Eden, Hair, Carousel, Damn Yankees and Kismet.
Vineyard's 25th season opened with the production of Anne Washburn's The Internationalist starring "Law & Order" actress Annie Parisse and continues with Tina Landau's staging of J.M. Barrie's Mary Rose (January/February 2007). A fourth production (to play in the spring of 2007) is yet to be announced.
