Kidman discusses how she became interested in the project after reading a review of the play, the four-year journey towards making the film of it, and what she feels is the film's hopeful message in spite of its downbeat circumstances.

She also discusses how she got her husband, country musician Keith Urban, interested in the films of Pedro Almodovar, whose work inspired the current Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
