The reading at the Players Club in Manhattan features Tony winner Nikki M. James as Cleopatra, Daniel Davis as Caesar, Sharon Washington as Ftatateeta, Tony Yazbeck as Apollodorus, John Bolton as Pothinus, David Drake as Theodotus, Patrick Boll as Rufio, Chris Burns as Lucius, Roberto Cambeiro as The Royal Sentinel, Michael Markham as Achillas, James Joseph O’Neil as Brittanus and Matthew Schechter as the boy king Ptolemy XIV. Donna Karger of NY1 narrates.

Show time is 7 PM.

David Staller, the acclaimed singer-actor who has produced and directed all of the Project Shaw offerings, handles those same duties for this reading.

The comedy, according to press notes, "takes us back to a highly romanticized ancient Egypt. Led by the mighty Caesar, the conquering Romans enter Egypt only to encounter one surprise after another: none more surprising than the consuming determination of the teenage Queen of the Nile, the legendary Cleopatra, who will stop at nothing to secure her throne for herself."

Project Shaw events for 2013 also include the following: St. Patrick's Day Gala (March 17); Admirable Bashville (April 29); Mrs. Warren's Profession (May 20); Too True To Be Good (June 24); On the Rocks (July 22); Shaw with Ibsen's League of Youth (Sept. 16); Shaw with Wilde's short stories (Oct. 21); Shaw with Chekhov's short stories (Nov. 18); and Super Shaw (Dec. 16).

Past participants include Blair Brown, Mark Kudisch, Kerry Butler, Tyne Daly, Jonathan Hadary, Daniel Jenkins, Rebecca Luker, Michael Cerveris, Karen Ziemba, Michele Pawk, Bruce Vilanch, Jack Gilpin and George S. Irving.

The Players Club is located in Manhattan at 16 Gramercy Park South. Tickets, priced $30, are available by calling (212) 352-3101. For more information visit www.projectshaw.com.
