Classic Arts News Nikolaj H‹bbe to Stage La Sylphide for National Ballet of Canada in 2005-06 The National Ballet of Canada has announced plans for the 2005-06 season, its last at Toronto's Hummingbird Centre before the company moves to the new Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in 2006.
Highlights of the season include a new production of La Sylphide by New York City Ballet principal Nikolaj H‹bbe‹the first time the company has presented the Bournonville classic in 15 years. The company will also present a commissioned world premiere by Matjash Mrosewski, to be paired with the company premiere of Michel Fokine's Petrouchka.

Artistic director James Kudelka's full-length An Italian Straw Hat, scheduled to premiere later this season, will return to the repertoire.

In addition, the company will perform Kudelka's version of Swan Lake (at the Hummingbird Centre and on tour in western Canada); a program of Balanchine works; and Kudelka's popular 11-year-old Nutcracker.
