News Nine Wives, Based on Dan Elish Novel About a Bachelor Hung Up on His Ex, Opens Tonight A developmental production of the new musical Nine Wives officially opens July 25 at TriArts Sharon Playhouse's Stage 2 space in the Bok Gallery.

Nine Wives, featuring music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen (No Way to Treat A Lady, The Gig) and a book and lyrics by Dan Elish (13), is based on the novel of the same name by Elish.

James Penca (Fringe Festival's Save the Date), Jason SweetTooth Williams (Bloodsong of Love) and Sarah Cline (TriArts' Les Misérables) star in the production through July 27.

TriArts artistic director John Simpkins helms the developmental production, which features music direction by Eric Kang.

Nine Wives, according to press notes, "tells the story of Henry Mann, a 32-year-old bachelor who discovers that the love of his life has met someone new and is about to get married. What's worse, he's been invited to her wedding! What follows are Henry's frantic attempts to find a woman he can take as his date – a potential future wife – to prove to his ex-fiancée (and the world) that he too is ready to move on."

The production is designed by Caleb Levengood (scenery), Jamie Roderick (lighting), Michelle Eden Humphrey (costumes) and Brad Berridge (sound). Katie Marchant is the production stage manager. Nine Wives is part of a Sharon Playhouse initiative to develop and produce new musicals at every stage of the development process. Performances are offered July 25 at 8 PM, July 26 at 3 PM and 8 PM and July 27 at 1 PM and 5:30 PM.
