News NJ Rep Has New Play Readings for Spring, Beginning With Riding Club April 2 The New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch, NJ, offers a collection of readings this spring in its Script-in-Hand New Play Series beginning April 2.

The New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch, NJ, offers a collection of readings this spring in its Script-in-Hand New Play Series beginning April 2.

The series starts with 7 PM April 2 with the warm comedy, The Riding Club, by Kerry Kennedy. Marnie Andrews directs a cast that features Marian Akana, Cindy Carver, Anne-Marie Cusson, Doris Dunigan, Angela Della Ventura and Judy Krantz.

David C. Hyer's political comedy, Lying in State, directed by Nick Montesano, will be read April 9 by Tricia Burr, Steve Carroll, Katrina Ferguson, Barney Fitzpatrick, Kathleen Goldpaugh, John Lombardi, and Philip F. Lynch.

Katharine Houghton's Best Kept Secrets, is heard May 7, featuring Houghton.

Also on the slate: Sheila Callaghan's Hunger Waltz May 14, Vincent Sessa's A Child's Guide to Innocence May 21 and a musical version of Dorian Gray by Robert Cioffi June 4. The purpose of the Script-in-Hand New Play Series is to offer playwrights the opportunity to develop their work in a creative setting, according to NJ Rep. Several of past reading plays have gone on to full productions at NJ Rep and other theatres. Audience feedback follows each reading, with cast, director and playwright present.
