News No Me Diga! In the Heights Will Get Utah Premiere at Pioneer Theatre in Fall Pioneer Theatre Company's 2012-13 season, the first under new artistic director Karen Azenberg, will launch with the resident Utah premiere of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical In the Heights.

The full season of the resident Equity company in Salt Lake City is expected to be announced May 1, but the popular title leaked out in a casting notice released in recent days. The sentimental, rhythmic and romantic musical about the vibrant and diverse Latino community in northern Manhattan has a Tony-winning score by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a Tony-nominated book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, who just won the Pulitzer Prize for Water By the Spoonful. In the Heights was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

In the Heights will play the Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre Sept. 14-29. Guest director Matt August will direct the production, Bob Richard will choreograph and Helen Gregory will be the musical director. Casting is ongoing.
