Directed by Bob Balaban, the one-woman show began previews Feb. 22 and officially opened March 8. Family Secrets will have played a total of 15 previews and 39 performances. (Originally scheduled to close April 16, the production had recently announced an extension through June 18.) In 1993 actress Glaser opened Off-Broadway in her one-woman show Family Secrets, garnering a Theater World Award, a Drama Desk nomination and an Outer Critic nomination for her performance.

Family Secrets, according to press notes, “is an intimate portrait of five members of a Jewish family transplanted from the Bronx to Southern California.” Glaser plays all five members of the family.

The creative team for the production comprises Rob Odorisio (scenic designer), John-Paul Szczepanski (lighting designer, based on the original design by Brian MacDevitt) and Ryan Powers (sound design).

Sherry Glaser’s solo shows include Coping and Family Secrets. She collaborated with Thais Mazur on the theatre/dance project Remember This. Among her new works are In Touch with Reality, Oh My Goddess! and The Adventures of Super Activist Mother.

37 Arts is located in Manhattan at 450 West 37th Street. Tickets are available by calling (212) 307-4100 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
