Despite urging by critics and fans that the New York City Center "Encores!" revival of Promises, Promises be recorded and/or transfer to a Broadway run, a la Chicago, a spokesperson for the production said March 26 that neither is in the works.
"The project is asleep, as far as we've heard," the spokesperson said.
Martin Short, Christine Baranski and Terrence Mann starred in the concert revival March 20-23. The spokesperson said that nearly all the performers who appeared in the revival have conflicting schedules for the rest of 1997.
The original 1968 cast album starring Jerry Orbach and Jill O'Hara is one of the rare OC albums never released on CD. The Burt Bacharach-Hal David Score contains the hits "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" and the title song.
