Nikolai Foster's non-replica production of A Chorus Line will play a U.K.-wide tour next year, following extended runs in Leicester and London.

Originally staged at Curve Leicester in 2021, the production will return to the Curve June 28–July 13, 2024, followed by a summer run at Sadler’s Wells in London July 31–August 25.

The tour will subsequently visit The Lowry in Salford, Norwich Theatre Royal, The Marlowe in Canterbury, the Birmingham Hippodrome, the New Theatre in Cardiff, the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, and the Wycombe Swan.

Reprising their roles from the original 2021 production will be Adam Cooper (Billy Elliot, Swan Lake) as Zach and Carly Mercedes Dyer (Anything Goes, West Side Story) as Cassie. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

In addition to Foster, the production is choreographed by Ellen Kane (Matilda, Legally Blonde). Originally directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, the majority of A Chorus Line productions around the world feature Bennett's original work, giving this non-replica production a fresh perspective rarely seen for the mega-hit musical.

Says Foster: “Working on A Chorus Line in 2021 at Curve was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments, and to have another opportunity to re-visit our acclaimed production and share it with a wider audience is something we could never have dreamed of. All great shows need exceptional new artists to reinterpret them for the generation to enjoy, and in Ellen Kane’s world-class choreography, Michael Bennett’s extraordinary piece is invigorated through Ellen’s sensational work. Being able to share this production with audiences in Leicester once more, ahead of visiting the home of dance Sadler’s Wells and then on tour across the U.K., reuniting Carly Mercedes Dyer as Cassie and Adam Cooper as Zach is the icing on the cake.”

This production also features set design by Grace Smart, costume design by Edd Lindley, lighting design by Howard Hudson, and sound design by Tom Marshall. The orchestra will be supported by music licensing company, PPL.

The Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Chorus Line began performances on Broadway at the Sam S. Shubert Theatre July 25, 1975, before officially opening October 19, 1975. When it closed 15 years later on April 28, 1990, it was the longest-running show in Broadway history, having played 6,137 performances. The production won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, nine Tony Awards (including Best Musical, Score, and Book), and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.

Originally conceived, choreographed, and directed by Michael Bennett, A Chorus Line features a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch, and lyrics by Edward Kleban.
