Normal Ave, the up-and-coming NYC-based theatre company behind last season's revival of Itamar Moses' Completeness, will launch its 2019–2020 season with a new play by Lily Houghton about the dangers of commercializing millennial femininity. Rounding out the programming will be a second world premiere from playwright Kayla Martine; Suzan-Lori Parks' 2010 drama, The Book of Grace; and a return of Normal Ave's free new works festival, NAPseries.

Kicking off the season this fall will be the world premiere of Houghton's Of the woman came the beginning of sin and through her we all die. The play follows Bluebell, Sweet Pea, Pumpkin, and Bleeding Heart, four femmes bound together by their workplace, the windowless basement of a Free People retail store. Directed by Kylie M. Brown, performances will begin October 3.

In January 2020, Normal Ave will continue its Playwrights’ Series (NAPseries), a free festival of readings of new work that will take place January 3-12. Submissions are now open.

Following will be another world premiere: Kayla Martine's Indoor Person, a new play about a quick-witted high-functioning agoraphobe and her relentlessly compassionate best friend who tries to keep her afloat. Andrew Garrett will direct, with performances scheduled to begin February 19.

In the spring, Shariffa Ali will direct Parks' The Book of Grace, not seen in New York since its 2010 premiere at The Public. The play follows a young man's return home to south Texas to confront his father, unearthing deep-seated passions and ambition.
