Jennifer Wilbanks' marital saga will be the subject of a new musical.

Book and lyrics are by Jamie Heck. Music is by Jeff Senf. Wilbanks — whose story dominated news shows during spring 2005 — disappeared just before her April 2005 wedding in Duluth, an Atlanta suburb, and later turned up in New Mexico. She initially said she had been kidnapped and sexually assaulted but eventually pleaded no contest to telling police a phony story and was sentenced to two years of probation.

Mark Pitt, the theater's owner, told the Associated Press that the show will not be a comedic spoof on the story, but instead will show how the event brought the Duluth community together.

"The story is more about the city and the tenacity and camaraderie of its citizens," he told the news service.

Wilbanks and her then-fiance, John Mason, will only be minor characters, Pitt said.

The script is still being finalized. Casting will take place over the summer.
