News Notes From New York Take Two, At The Donmar Having had a successful first showing at London’s Arts Theatre in November 2003, the U.S. musical theatre revue Notes From New York is set to stroll down the road to the more-prestigious Donmar Warehouse on March 7, with a revamped line-up.

Joining performers Paul Spicer and Julie Atherton, who did the show at the Arts, will be Debbie Kurup and Craig Purnell. The revue will showcase the work — in many cases presenting UK and European premieres — of Broadway composers Jonathan Larson (known in England for Rent, but also composer of Tick Tick Boom), the Tony-winning William Finn (A New Brain, Falsettos and Infinite Joy) and — also a Tony winner — Jason Robert Brown (Songs For A New World, Parade, The Last Five Years).

Pulitzer Prize winner Larson famously died of an aortic aneurysm shortly before Rent’s world premiere in New York. Tick Tick Boom is his only other musical, and has only been seen in an Off-Broadway production and on tour in the U.S.

Newcomers Kurup and Purnell starred in recent West End productions of Rent (Kurup) and The Secret Garden (Purnell). Neil Eckersley produces, with David Randall directing and Marcus Wadland supplying the sound design.
