News Nov. 21 Elegies Will Help Pace Students Raise Funds for BC/EFA Students from Pace University will offer one performance of Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens Nov. 21 as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

The one-night-only performance will be held at the Eddie Layton Student Union, which is located on the campus of Pace University. Show time is 8 PM.

Ashley Marinaccio is directing the revue with musical direction by Steve McCasland and stage management by Justine Wetzle. All actors are currently enrolled in Pace University's Bachelor of Fine Arts theatre program.

Elegies features a book by Bill Russell and songs by Russell and Janet Hood. The revue, according to press notes, is "a celebration of lives lost to AIDS told in free-verse monologues with a blues, jazz and rock score — this piece is designed to include the community in a theatrical response to the AIDS crisis. This play with music tells the tale from the point view of some 30 individuals who died as a result of contracting AIDS from a wide variety of sources — such as a 'regular Joe who dropped into a brothel, to a granny who was given an infected blood transfusion.' The actors step forward on by one to tell their stories in verse and song."

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation's largest industry-based, nonprofit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. Since its founding in 1988 the organization has distributed over $100 million for services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.
