The New York City segment of Camp Broadway's five-city national summer tour takes place Aug. 7 - 11 at TheatreWorks U.S.A. The New York City camp will host 80 kids from 22 states and two Canadian provinces.

With five-day programs booked in each of five different cities, Camp Broadway's schedule of programs are aimed at introducing young people to Broadway, both on stage and behind the scenes.

Camp Broadway offers kids from each of five different cities the chance to study a specific musical for a period of five days. The schedule this summer already featured a camp segment at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, June 19-23 where Lea Thompson and members of the Cabaret tour cast conducted a master classes. Thompson has since assumed the role of Sally Bowles on Broadway in the Roundabout revival of Cabaret at Studio 54.

Also completed is the Arizona State University segment in , Tempe, AZ., which took place June 26-30. There, cast members from the tour company of Titanic conducted master classes.

Show: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Additional Camp Broadway activities include day trips to Broadway under the Broadway Breaks Away program, s student discount program called The Front Row and Camp Kenmont/Kenwood, a four-week program in Kent., Conn.

Described as the premier performing arts program for children ages 10 -7, Camp Broadway offers classes that are taught by Collaborative Arts Project staffers, a group comprising professionals in "musical theatre, acting, scene study, improvisation, music theory, solo and ensemble singing, movement and dance."

Like the rest of the curriculum, the master classes at Camp Broadway are also designed to "provide each child an opportunity to expand his or her unique creative talents, build self esteem and encourage collaboration." Taught by professionals, the master classes cover a variety of skills, including tap, stage design, theatrical make up and creative writing.

Other Camp Broadway programs include interactive Broadway pre-theatre workshops, discounted theatre tickets and educational seminars with the Front Row series, the "Dialogue with Educators" newsletter and the "Stage Notes" study guides.
