The Guggenheim, New York City's world famous art museum, is currently showing the works of ultra-Americana painter Norman Rockwell, in its galleries. But its theatre is geared up for a few musical-minded events, including a new ballet piece teaming Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett (Swing!) and cabaret's Andrea Marcovicci on Feb. 24-25 and an evening of Ricky Ian Gordon's Bright Eyed Joy, featuring Tony winners Audra McDonald and Kristin Chenoweth with Sweet Smell of Success' Brian d'Arcy James and Darius deHaas on April 28-29.

Bright Eyed Joy was the title of Gordon's first CD, released in 2001 on the Nonesuch label. Songs on the album include settings of Langston Hughes, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Dorothy Parker poems ("The Dream Keeper," "When Sue Wears Red," "Wild Swans," "Souvenir," "Resume" and "The Red Dress"), sung by McDonald and deHaas among others. Gordon's credits include the music to Jean Claud Van Italie's The Tibetan Book of the Dead and the musical theatre piece Dream True.

The Carolina Ballet will dance to Taylor-Corbett's choreography and Marcovicci's voice in a special performance of Broadway composer Maury Yeston's December Songs, as well as excerpts from Cabaret at Cafe Marcovicci, set to music of the 1930's and '40's. A disccussion with Carolina Ballet artistic director Robert Weiss and composer/arranger Glenn Mehrbach follows.
