What To Do About Nothing, Judy Sheehan's retelling of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, will begin performances at New York City's Looking Glass Theatre Jan. 13 for a run through Feb. 6. Bob Gilbo directs.
Placing the action in 1954, What To Do sets Shakespeare's classic comedy of sparing lovers into the middle of the Red Scare. As millions of Americans tune into the hit TV show, "Nothing's Sacred," two pairs of lovers fight and fall in love backstage. First, there are the dancer Fran and the staff writer Charlie, who has been told to expose his dream girl as a communist on national television. Then there are Beth Hill, the show's leading lady, and head writer Ben Peters. They openly hate each other, but with the political machinations going on around them, they may just be forced to fall for one another.

Looking Glass is dedicated to producing scripts by new women writers. Recently, the company staged an all female Richard III and plans to produce Catherine Bernard's Laodamia, Queen of Epirus.
