News NYC's Statue of Liberty Takes a Walk in L.A. Cabaret/Play Liberty! Jan. 9-Feb. 23 Writer-performer Chris Wells sets the Statute of Liberty on a surreal cross-country search for a boy called Freedom in his cabaret-style musical play, Liberty!, making its Los Angeles premiere Jan. 9-Feb. 23 at [Inside] the Ford.

Once a solo show, but fully cast in its run at the Ford, Liberty! features a selection of patriotic tunes (including "America the Beautiful" in a torch song medley), a puppet show and the quest for fulfillment of the American Dream. Liberty! traveled the country as a solo show after being developed at L.A.'s Actor's Gang. The author of A Fairy Tale, Wells' Los Angeles performing credits include Batboy: the Musical and L.A. Weekly Award-winning stints in Harry Thaw Hates Everybody and The Importance of Being Earnest.

He stars in Liberty! with Gray Kelley, Don Luce, Kate Mulligan and Dina Platias. Tracy Young (Medea/Macbeth/Cinderella at Yale Repertory and in Los Angeles) directs with choreography by Lindsley Allen.
