Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J) will stage the Irwin Shaw classic from 1936, about soldiers who refuse to be buried at wartime. Performances will play Oct. 31-Nov. 23. Opening is Nov. 9.

According to Transport Group, "Bury the Dead takes place during 'the second year of the war that is to begin tomorrow night.' While a military burial detail goes about its sad duties, the dead soldiers shockingly begin to rise up, pleading not to be buried. Word of their insurrection spreads rapidly: the dead will not yield so easily. In a series of touching scenes the dead men talk with their loved ones of the days of living, now lost forever."

Calarco is a Lucille Lortel Award winner for Shakespeare's R & J. This Bury the Dead is billed as the first major New York City revival of Shaw's anti-war play."

Transport Group artistic director Jack Cummings III will stage the new musical Being Audrey, which has music and lyrics by Ellen Weiss, book by James Hindman, additional book and lyrics by Cheryl Stern, who will also star. The project was developed with Cummings and Adam R. Perlman.

Previews will start March 27, 2009, toward an April 5, 2009, opening. Performances will play to April 26, 2009. According to Transport Group, "Claire Stark has it all: a beautiful life, the husband of her dreams…and a view of Bergdorf Goodman. When her world threatens to collapse, Claire seeks refuge in a romantic adventure inspired by the films of Audrey Hepburn, but now she must make one of the most difficult decisions of her life — fantasy or reality? With a jazz-infused score by Ellen Weiss and a book by James Hindman, Being Audrey combines different theatricalities for a breathtaking experience."
