News NYPD Expects Theatre District Traffic Delays Dec. 7 and Dec. 8 On Dec. 7. from 5 PM-6 PM, the Covenant House will conduct a candlelight vigil on the Times Square Recruitment Island on Broadway at West 44th Street. On Dec. 7. from 5 PM-6 PM, the Covenant House will conduct a candlelight vigil on the Times Square Recruitment Island on Broadway at West 44th Street. The NYPD and Times Square Business Improvement District (TS BID) expect 500 to 600 participants. On Dec. 8, 1999, at the Sheraton New York Hotel on Broadway at West 53rd Street, the New York State Neighbors and Tenants Coalition will rally to protest City Council speaker Peter Valone over rent protection laws. This demonstration begins at 5 PM and should end around 7:30 PM.

The NYPD says to expect traffic delays in both cases. Since either event could cause traffic to be delayed for theatregoers, patrons may wish to adjust their travel plans accordingly.
