News Obie Winner Beaty to Star in Through the Night at Off-Broadway's Riverside Theatre
Daniel Beaty, who received an Obie Award for his solo play Emergence-See!, will bring his latest one-man work to Off-Broadway's Riverside Theatre in May.

Previews for Through the Night, written and performed by Beaty, will begin May 4 with an official opening May 7. Charles Randolph-Wright directs.

Through the Night, according to press notes, is the story of "six African-American males, ages 10-60, who discover the power of possibility through one extraordinary event."

The production will feature scenic and lighting design by Alexander V. Nichols and sound design and original music by Lindsay Jones.

Dialogues with Beaty and various guests will follow each performance. Opening night will feature actor Bill Cosby; others set to appear include Ruby Dee, Hill Harper and Malik Yoba.

Through the Night premiered as a co-production with the Crossroads Theatre and The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. The play will be presented in New York by The Riverside Theatre, Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre and Walk Tall Girl Productions.
