News Off-Broadway Cast Album of Danny Abosch and Susan DiLallo's Fancy Nancy Gets Digital Release March 12 Ghostlight Records digitally releases the original Off-Broadway cast recording of Fancy Nancy The Musical, the children's show currently running at Vital Theatre Company, March 12. The album will hit shelves April 23.

Fancy Nancy The Musical, based on the popular book series of the same name written by Jane O'Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, features music by Danny Abosch (Placebo), book by Susan DiLallo (Iron Curtain, Once Upon a Time in New Jersey) and lyrics by both.

Fancy Nancy The Musical opened Sept. 29, 2012; tickets are on sale through April 28. The national tour launched earlier this year and will be performed into 2014.

The original cast on the recording features Alyson Bloom, Darilyn Castillo, Tricia Giordano, Jes Dugger, Kyle Motsinger and Amanda Savan.

Here's how the musical is described: "Fancy Nancy and her friends, Bree, Rhonda, Wanda, and Lionel are going to be performing in their very first show, Deep Sea Dances. Nancy is positive — that's fancy for 100 percent sure — that she and Bree will be picked to be mermaids. When another girl wins the coveted role of the mermaid, Nancy is stuck playing a dreary, dull tree. Can Nancy bring fancy flair to her role, even though it isn’t the one she wanted?"

"Fancy Nancy," a 2005 children's picture book, spent nearly 100 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list, launching a series that now numbers 50 books. 20th Century Fox and 21 Laps Entertainment have announced a live-action film version of the "Fancy Nancy" book series with Tina Fey producing. The track listing follows:

1. Overture
2. Anyone Can Be Fancy
3. What I'll Be
4. I'm A Tree
5. You'll Always Feel Much Better After Tea
6. On My Team
7. Something Terrible
8. You'll Always Be My Star
9. Shark Rap
10. The Deep Sea Dances Ballet
11. A Fancier Place
