The piece takes place at an overwhelmingly white workplace that hires a new employee to improve the company's image and so-called "culture." Olujobi, who makes their Off-Broadway debut with the production, began work on the play while part of the Public's 2018-2019 Emerging Writers Group.

The production features scenic design by Matt Saunders, costume design by Qween Jean, lighting design by Cha See, sound design by Fan Zhang, hair and wig design by Nikiya Mathis, special effects design by Lillis Meeh, prop management by Claire M. Kavanah, intimacy direction by Kelsey Rainwater, and fight direction by UnkleDave's Fight House. Nissy Aya is serving as dramaturg, with Rachel Denise April as production stage manager and Eloia Peterson as stage manager.
