Off-Broadway News Off-Broadway’s Puffs Sets Closing Date The Harry Potter–inspired play will shutter at New World Stages in August.

Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School, of Magic and Magic will wave its wand for the final time Off-Broadway August 18.

Created by Matt Cox and directed by Kristin McCarthy Parker, Puffs takes a second look at the wizarding world made famous by J.K. Rowling through the eyes of a lovable group of magical misfits.

The show opened July 17, 2017, at New World Stages, having previously started at Peoples Improv Theater in 2015 and a subsequent transfer to the Elektra Theater.

In addition to an earlier filmed presentation from Fathom Events, the show will offer a behind-the-scenes book titled PUFFS: The Essential Companion, to be published by Del Rey Books November 5. The tome will include a full, annotated script, interviews, alternate scenes, and more.

The current ensemble is made up of Chrissy Albanese, Lacy Allen, Michael Axelrod, Madeleine Bundy, Anna Dart, Kullan Edberg, Alex Haynes, Criena House, Reginald Keith Jackson, Jake Keefe, Sonia Mena, Andy Miller, Zac Moon, Michael Ortiz, Sarah Peele, Keith Rubin, Chris Evan Simpson, Ryan Wesley Stinnett, Stephen Stout, and Leanne Velednitsky.

The production features sets and costumes by Madeleine Bundy, lighting design by Herrick Goldman, sound design by Cox, and original music by Brian Hoes.
