The Ogunquit Playhouse production of Ragtime starts performances August 2. It will play the Maine venue through August 26.

The cast is headed by Kirsten Scott as Mother, Jamie LaVerdiere as Father, Tony nominee Josh Young as Tateh, Darnell Abraham as Coalhouse, Lindsay Roberts as Sarah, Julian Decker as Younger Brother, and Klea Blackhurst as Emma.

Director Seth Sklar-Heyn leads a creative team that also includes choreographer Jesse Robb, fight director Joe Bostick, scenic and projection designer Timothy Mackabee, lighting designer Richard Latta, music director Jeffrey Campos, and sound designer Kevin Heard.

Featuring a score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally, the musical about America at the turn-of-the-century is based on E.L. Doctorow's novel of the same name.

“Truly a story we need to tell at this point in our nation’s history, Ragtime is one of the most powerful shows ever written for the stage, and possibly my favorite show of all time,” said Executive Artistic Director Bradford Kenney in an earlier statement. “To tell this compelling story we have brought together a stellar creative team led by director Seth Skylar-Heyn. Broadway set designer Tim Mackabee has also joined the team to create an all-new set for our Ogunquit production. I am looking forward to a production of Ragtime that we all will be so very proud of.”
