The Red Bull Theater Company, which recently extended its engagement of Christopher Marlowe's Edward the Second through Jan. 27, will also present Brecht's radical 20th century re-telling of Edward II's life. Set to join O'Hare and Cerveris for the Jan. 7 reading are Randy Harrison, Matthew Rauch, Jason Butler Harner, Davis Hall, Derek Lucci, Daniel Stewart, Hannah Cabell and more under the direction of Michael Sexton. The Obie-winning Revelation Readings series will continue with the Jan. 14 presentation of Kay Matschullat's contemporary revision of Alfred de Musset's On ne badine pas avec l'amour, entitled Don't Fuck With Love. The reading features Jeanine Serralles, Mary Bacon and Michael Izquierdo under the direction of Lear deBessonet.
Closing the Revelation Reading series on Jan. 21 will be Tony Award winner Roger Rees and Heidi Armbruster in James Shirley's The Cardinal. Carl Forsman directs Rees and Armbruster in the Elizabethan drama, which "explores corruption in the church through a wonderfully tangled web of deceit, plots, love affairs, poison and death."
The 7 PM Revelation Readings are held at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Playwrights Horizons is located in Manhattan at 416 West 42nd Street. Tickets are available by visiting www.ticketcentral.com or by calling (212) 279-4200.
