PlayBlog Oliver Platt to Join Cast of "X-Men: First Class" Stage and screen star Oliver Platt has joined the cast of "X-Men: First Class," the spin-off of the hit mutant superhero franchise that will begin shooting next month in London, according to deadline.com.

Platt will play The Man in Black. The film will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon and Rose Byrne.

Platt earned a Tony Award nomination for Shining City and also appeared in Guys and Dolls on Broadway and in the Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night. He stars opposite Tony nominee Laura Linney in the current Showtime series "The Big C" and previously appeared for the cable network in "Huff," for which he received two Emmy nods. Screen credits include "Frost/Nixon," "Nip/Tuck" (Emmy nom.), "Kinsey," "The West Wing" (Emmy nom.), "Pieces of April," "Bulworth," "A Time to Kill," "The Three Musketeers" and "Postcards from the Edge."
