Nominees include both of Mormon's leading men, Gavin Creel and Jared Gertner (who go head-to-head in the Best Actor in a Musical category), and choreographer Casey Nicholaw, with the show also being nominated as Best New Musical and co-creators Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone being nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Music.

The Scottsboro Boys saw nominations for Best New Musical, Kyle Scatliffe and Colman Domingo (in separate performance categories), Kander and Ebb (for Oustanding Achievement in Music) and Susan Stroman, who was nominated for both Best Director and Best Choreographer.

North London's Almeida Theatre scored eleven nominations, including five for its revival of Ghosts (which transferred to the West End's Trafalgar Studios) and two for Best Play (for Lucy Kirkwood's Chimerica that transferred to the West End's Pinter Theatre and Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan's adaptation of 1984 that will transfer to the Playhouse after its current run concludes March 29). Also nominated for Best Play are Conor McPherson's The Night Alive (premiered at the Donmar Warehouse) and John Logan's Peter and Alice (premiered under the auspices of the Michael Grandage Company and which also scored a nomination for Judi Dench as Best Actress).

The Donmar Warehouse also scored well: In addition to the nomination for The Night Alive, it also won nominations for Tom Hiddleston and Mark Gatiss (in separate categories for appearing in Coriolanus), Ardal O'Hanlon (for appearing in The Weir) and Nick Payne's The Same Deep Water As Me (nominated for Best New Comedy).

Amongst the shows that went entirely unrecognized are Andrew Lloyd Webber's Stephen Ward and Tim Rice's co-authored From Here To Eternity. The results will be announced in a ceremony being held at the Royal Opera House April 13 with a full TV highlights package being broadcast on ITV that evening.
