News Olivier Awards Presented April 28 at London's Royal Opera House This year's Olivier Awards, presented by the Society of London Theatres with Mastercard, take place April 28 at London's Royal Opera House, also the home of last year's ceremony.

The ceremony,hosted by Hugh Bonneville and two-time Olivier Award winner Sheridan Smith with voiceovers by Julia McKenzie, will include guest solo performances by Matthew Morrison (marking the first time he has ever performed at a major event in the UK), Idina Menzel and Petula Clark. Amongst the nominees for awards, there will also be performances by Will Young (joined by the company of Cabaret in which he recently starred in the West End) and Heather Headley (performing "I Will Always Love You" from The Bodyguard).

In addition, the full companies of A Chorus Line and Top Hat will perform specially created pieces for the awards night, and James Bourne will give a performance from Loserville, the Olivier-nominated show he wrote the score of.

Guest presenters for the awards include Kim Cattrall, Lee Evans, Romola Garai, Lily James, Myleene Klass, Damian Lewis, Tim Minchin, Arlene Phillips, Daniel Radcliffe and David Suchet. In the adjoining outdoor Covent Garden Piazza, the BBC Radio 2 Stage will be hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Michael Xavier with performances from West End shows, other entertainment and the full ceremony live on big screens.

The BBC Concert Orchestra will be playing live for all performances under the musical direction of David Charles Abell.

ITV is the official television broadcast partner for the event on April 28, producing a ceremony highlights programme recorded, edited and broadcast on the night from 10:15 PM. BBC Radio 2, the official radio partner of the Olivier Awards, will continue to broadcast live radio coverage of the ceremony, as they have done in previous years, with the programme going out live from  6 PM, presented by the station's Ken Bruce. The nominations for this year's Olivier Awards are led by the National's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, recently transferred to the West End's Apollo Theatre, with eight nominations including Best New Play, Best Director for Marianne Elliott and Best Actor for Luke Treadaway.

Top Hat (continuing at the Aldwych Theatre) followed with seven nominations, with the Chichester Festival Theatre production of Sweeney Todd receiving six for its transfer to the Adelphi Theatre (now shuttered).

Another Chichester production, Kiss Me, Kate (which transferred to the Old Vic, also now shuttered), received five nominations, as did Stephen Daldry's production of The Audience (now at the Gielgud). Four nominations were earned by The Bodyguard (now running at the Adelphi), and the already shuttered productions of Constellations and Twelfth Night (which transferred from the Royal Court and Shakespeare's Globe to the Duke of York's and Apollo, respectively).

Director-choreographer Gillian Lynne and playwright Michael Frayn will be honored with Special Awards at this year's Olivier Awards for their outstanding contributions to theatre.
